Green Way Pavements (GWP) Brings a ‘Green’ Alternative for Pavements!

The risk of flooding and wide-spread damage of properties & lives in last decade has substantially increased mainly due to climate change.

The city of the future will need to take account of man-made deteriorating environment and must take a call to safeguard our planet.

An increase in paving in urban areas is leading to the existence of so-called urban heat islands; places where sunlight is absorbed more rapidly as well as being preserved longer.

Traditional paving block prevents rainwater from being filtered by the earth and may contribute to erosion caused by improper drainage.

However, permeable pavement uses special materials designed to handle water. And it is definitely more environmentally friendly!

It also prevents erosion after heavy rains as it acts as mini holding-ponds, and allows water to gradually absorb into the soil below.

A New York based environment conscious organization ‘Green Way Pavements’ (GWP) founded in 2012, aims to promote the green products made from recycled materials, that will have a positive effect on our environment and lifestyle.

Their Plastic Permeable Grid-Paver line of products helps to generate more jobs, better utilization of recycled materials, and also encourage people for waste reduction.

What is Plastic Permeable Grid-Paver?

Plastic Permeable Grid-Paver is a product made of 100% recycled plastic and serves as a soil stabilization system that provide a solution for storm water and erosion control on residential, commercial and public areas such as: driveways, farms, equestrian, access roads, golf courses, highway embankment and roads edge, parking lots, slopes reinforcement.

The Mission Grid-Paver

The recycled plastic grid-paver is a green alternative to traditional asphalt and concrete and serves as a practical pavement solution that offers long-term durability with affordability and simplified maintenance.

Water flows through grid-pavers into the soil and it becomes naturally filtered. While asphalt and concrete allow pollutants to flow into sewer drains, thereafter, into streams and lakes, which have an adverse impact on the environment.

The Mission Grid-Paver offers a unique locking system. 5% to 20% grades are common. Each tile is firmly locked on two sides to the next creating a highly secure surface. If you are still worried about laying it on a slope then you can place a few anchors for additional stability.

Some of the features of Plastic Grid-Paver:
  • Made of recycled plastic LDPE & HDPE polyethylene compounds
  • Provides decades of life span: more than 20 years
  • Lightweight, simply installed: 1 person/ 1 hr/ 1000 sq ft
  • No need for heavy construction equipment and excessive labor
  • Highly permeable, even thru storm surges
  • Minimal expansion and contraction
  • Strength and stability are excellent
  • 1.5% Run-off coefficient (asphalt and concrete 95%)
  • Weather, chemical, and UV resistant,
  • Stays dry as water instantly drains into the soil
  • Reduces surface heat, unlike asphalt
  • Can be snow plowed
The Grid’s cells design permits a variety of fills from stone, sand, turf-filled, grass seeded, wood mulch, rubber, and glitter products. Its application varies from residential, commercial to public areas.

The Mission Grid-Paver can withstand temperature range -57°F up to 194°F. It’s made from the mixture of LDPE and HDPE, which is extremely stable and does not naturally degrade; it is resistant to acids and alkalis.
