Planning on moving? Here's Who You Need To Notify
According to a commercial moving company, when you move, things get hectic. Most people are so worried about the move itself that they forget the essential things they need to do before they move, such as notifying the appropriate entities that you’re moving to a new city.

Here is a handy checklist of all the things you need to take care of before you move so you won’t be as stressed once you arrive in your new location.

Change Address With The Post Office

The first thing to do once you know you’re going to be moving, and once you know the address, is to go to your local post office and fill out the proper forms to change your address. Doing this ensures you’ll get your mail delivered uninterrupted once you arrive at your new location.

Notify them of your change of address at least 30 days before moving.

Also, if you have any subscriptions, such as magazines or newspapers that arrive in the mail, make sure you contact them and tell them to change your address as well.

Change Your Bank

Even though many people take advantage of mobile banking these days, sometimes it’s convenient to move your funds from your current bank to one in your new location because you never know when you’re going to have to stop into your local branch for services or if you have a problem.

Change Address Associated with Credit Cards

In addition to your banking information, you’re going to want to contact your credit card companies and inform them of your change of address as well. Fortunately, most of this can be done online with little hassle.

Connect/Disconnect Utilities

When you move to your new home, you’re going to want to have your essential utilities set up and ready to go once you arrive — utilities such as water, gas, electricity, and possibly internet. Also, you also want to be sure your current utility providers are notified so that services can be shut off at your old location so that you’re not being billed for something you’re not using.

Most utility companies recommend scheduling service shut off at the end of the day on the day you move out; this makes it so that you can use these services during the day while you’re moving.

Notify Your Physicians

Talk to your doctor about your move and ask them if they can refer you to another physician. Doing this well in advance of your move is essential because you may need to find a doctor that works within your insurance plan.

Department of Motor Vehicles

When moving to another state, you need to renew your driver’s license, get new registration, and get new plates for your vehicle. Do this approximately 30 days before the day you move.

These are all of the essential contacts you should make before you move. Having all these done ahead of time means you’ll have much less to worry about once the big day comes around. Which will prove to be the biggest moving help you can get.
