Lenovo K4 Note with first Theater Max Technology in the World

After a long line of teasers, Lenovo has finally unveiled the K4 Note in Indian market. Touted as the “Killer Note 2016”, the new beauty from the Chinese tech-giant comes with some noticeable improvements on the spec sheet and a mind-blowing feature of Theatre Max Technology. Despite a small lift in pricing, the design aspect of the new K member has improved a lot.

It looks far better than K3 Note or any smartphone in the budget segment, and will be hitting the shelves on January 19 via flash sale on renowned e-commerce portal Amazon.in. Registrations for the sale begin from 3PM, January 5.

So, what it is like to hold a power-packed budget phone with a plethora of features? We tried Coolpad Note 3 and the results were just satisfactory. But this time, the player is Lenovo and we expect a lot more in terms of performance and visual experience. So, here are the key highlights of the new Note!

Design and Build Quality

Till date, Lenovo has been quite disappointing on the design front, especially for its budget phones. All Lenovo phones made till today featured a decent build but were not too impressive in terms of looks. However, the new K4 Note is a completely different story. The phone ships at a hefty price, but brings a slew of improvements in terms of design.Unlike the K3 Note, the K4 Note flaunts a great look with curves on its edges and a metal frame running along its sides.

The rear panel of the phone is still polycarbonate, but the placement of two 1.5WDolby Atmosspeakers, a camera, and a new fingerprint sensor makes everything look cooler and different. Essentially, it looks very similar to the recently launched Lenovo Vibe X3 Lite or VIBE A7010 with 2GB RAM!

Display and Visual experience

Lenovo was always good at giving a nice display, but this time, things are getting even better with the improved Theatre Max Technology offered by the company. On paper, the display is the same 5.5-inch full HD IPS panel with picture-perfect viewing angles, but the new all-new Lenovo TheaterMax technology powered by ANTVR headset (like Google Cardboard)endows an immersive viewing trip with a lifelike large-screen cinematic experience.

Considering the increasing consumption of digital content on mobile devices, the introduction of VR technology is a great move to give users an exemplary viewing experience. The ANTVR headset has been priced at Rs. 1,299, but can be bundled with Lenovo K4 Note at Rs. 12,499.

Hardware and Performance

Here comes the most anticipated upgrade in Lenovo K4 Note- MediaTek MT6753 Octa-core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. Though it is not the best offering in this price segment, Lenovo promises a lot better experience than you’ve had with Coolpad Note 3 and other phones offering the same hardware.

Therefore, after dismissing all those rumors of incorporating a MediaTek Helios X10 processor, the New K4 Note features an octa-core MediaTek MT6753 SoC clocked at 1.3GHz. It promises very smooth and glitch-free performance and is definitely a decent bump over the K3 Note.

Software

On the software front, the phone looks fairly changed and a lot similar to stock Android. This time, instead of featuring all apps on the home screen, Lenovo has introduced the K4 Note with an app drawer and a very small amount of bloatware. The Vibe Lite UI skin based on Android 5.1 Lollipop gives a decent user experience, of bloatware for a smooth glitch-free user experience, and looks fairly neat and slick for standard users. The software the very similar to Vibe P1.

Camera Performance

If you love photography and want to click some brilliant photos indoors as well as outdoors, go for Lenovo K4 Note. The 13MP rear and 5MP front-facing snapper of this handset can deliver sharp and vibrant images in all environments. The f/2.2 rear camera of the phone gives a great photography experience with features like two-tone LED flash, phase detection auto-focus, and HDR, while the front-facing snapper produces superb selfies at 5-megapixels. Video capturing capabilities are again restricted to 1080p at 30 fps.

Connectivity Options

Along with buttery smooth performance, the connectivity options on Lenovo K4 Note are also upgraded. The dual-SIM-based device incorporates advanced 4G LTE connectivity with basic options (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS), and MicroUSB 2.0. It supports LTE bands 40 and 41 in India and gives a glitch-free browsing experience on all networks. On the plus side, it also offers NFC and USB OTG capabilities for seamless data transfer from one device to another.

Battery Backup

For on-the-go users, Lenovo K4 Note is a great choice. The dual SIM-based device houses a 3300mAh battery and gives more than enough juice for seamless work and play. It delivers just the right amount of power for high-end users and promises up to 23 hours of talk time on a 2G mobile network. Despite bringing a 10% increase in battery capacity over the K3 Note, the new K4 Note doesn’t look very large, heavy, or bulky by any means.

Bottom Line

Summing up, we can say, the new Lenovo K4 Note offers a great upgrade over its predecessor. The Lollipop-based phone packs all essential elements for smooth and glitch-free performance, and flaunts a great look from every possible angle. It ships at a price tag of Rs. 11,999, and offers one of the finest deals under 10k.

However, we all have to remember that it’s too early to deduce something about the performance of this phone. It did perform well, but with just a handful of apps on the internal memory.

So, to know exactly how this phone is going to do under rough conditions, we’ll have to give some time for the in-depth review! A lot is expected from the phone, especially with its powerful hardware, Theater Max Technology, and ANT VR headset.
